In Memory of Gee Gee White
1946- 2000
The Gee Gee White Memorial Award was established in memory of a woman whose passion for life and dedication to the mission of the Woodlynde School were only two of the many ways she gifted the community.
Gee Gee White had a passion for people. She loved life and wanted to share it exuberantly with the people she cared about. She believed with all her energy that we were put here to do good works, and that our lives are defined by those people we help, we nurture, and we care about. She lived that out through her dedication to her family and friends, and her dedication to the students she taught. Woodlynde was where Gee Gee's heart was--and it gave so much back to her.
From 1996-1998 Gee Gee taught English in Grades 9 and 12 and served as the Director of College Guidance. She continued as Director of College Guidance in 1998 and also assumed the role of Director of Development, a position she held until her death in 2000.
Each year, the Gee Gee White Memorial Award, including a monetary component, is given to a student who has demonstrated extraordinary personal growth during his or her senior year.
